嫩草视频 UniversityTo commemorate the 1972 declaration of the Martial Law, DAKILA, 嫩草视频 University Culture and Arts Council (SUCAC), and Buglas Writers Guild will hold a special screening of 鈥11,103鈥 at Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium on September 21 at 2:00 p.m. The event is part of Rebelasyon: The Active Vista Human Rights Festival.
Directed by Jeanette Ifurung and Miguel Alcazaren, the documentary features accounts of those who survived the state-sponsored atrocities that occurred under Ferdinand Marcos鈥 martial law regime. The title 鈥11,103鈥 refers to the number of victims who were compensated after the Philippine government passed a law in 2013 that recognized the violence committed during Martial Law and required that the victims鈥 compensation be paid out of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos鈥 illegally acquired wealth, which was kept hidden in their Swiss bank accounts.
Before the screening, the filmmakers will present previously unreleased segments on the Martial Law experiences of Negrenses from both Occidental and Oriental. It will be followed by a talkback session with Palanca-awardee and faculty member of the Department of English and Literature, Asst. Prof. Ian Fermin Casocot; and one of the film鈥檚 directors, Alcazaren.
